ANKALINA DAHLEM
PAINTER POET AUTHOR
Born in Frankfurt am Main, she began her formal art training at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena before studying under Jörg Immendorff at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. She completed her diploma at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe in 1997 and earned her master's degree the following year under Stephan Balkenhol (sculpture) and Erwin Gross (painting).
Dahlem's paintings - often featuring animals and female figures - are known for their seductive surfaces and subtly disquieting, surreal contexts.
This tension between allure and unease has become a hallmark of her visual language.
