Nel volume vengono affrontate le strutture del complesso augusteo sul Palatino (casa di Ottaviano, "casa interrotta", casa di Livia, Tempio di Apollo) e delle fasi individuabili, collegando i vari settori in senso cronologico, spaziale e con le notizie delle fonti. L'esame entra nel dettaglio sulle zone di contatto tra le fondazioni del podio del tempio e le strutture precedenti e sulle componenti che integravano spazialmente l' area su cui esso sorgeva, quale la porticus Danaidum con il suo possente sistema di sostruzione e di controspinta, l' annesso arco d' ingresso, il tempio di Vesta e il palazzo a padiglioni di Augusto.
Una particolare attenzione è dedicata al rapporto tra architettura e rappresentazioni architettoniche in pittura e in stucco nelle case di Ottaviano e di Livia. Presentiamo infine una ricostruzione del portale del tempio in base allo stipite superstite. We have dealt with the structures of the Augustan complex on the Palatine and the identifiable phases, connecting the various sectors chronologically, spatially and with the texts from the primary sources.
Particular attention has been paid to the areas of contact between the Temple of Apollo and the previous structures (house of Octavian, "interrupted house", house of Livia) and the components that spatially integrated the area on which the temple stood, such as the porticus Danaidum with its powerful system of substruction and counter-thrust, the adjoining entrance arch, the temple of Vesta and the pavilion palace of Augustus.
Finally, we present a reconstruction of the portal of the temple based on the surviving jamb.
