Half Scottish, half English, maybe a third Australian by default. Maths not a strong point, obvs. After a perfectly useless undergraduate degree specialising in 17th-century Spanish comic drama, Pam ended up doing a hideous stint in provincial journalism. Vowing never to touch newspapers again, she undertook another perfectly useless post-graduate degree specialising in 17th-century Spanish comic drama.
Now totally unequipped for the rigours of modern life, Pam flirted with translating, copy writing and journalism in Oxford, Cambridge, WA and Bath. Then it was off to Warwickshire to dabble in educational publishing and consultancy. The first book came out in a thin hot stream of post-1980s angst and she has been writing for herself ever since. Over the past decade, she's written a bunch of novels and stories in a bewildering array of genres - from historical fiction to contemporary murder mystery, by way of 1930s noir, YA fantasy and paranormal stories.
Aside from botanical history, her interests are cyanotype printing, sourdough breadmaking, science fiction/fantasy, light gardening, walking her two bonkers collies and DIY-avoidance. She takes them all very seriously.
