Hemma had been used to collect DNA from powerful actives. The Uraddan government had used the samples to make stronger actives that they could control. She hadn't had a choice, but her face was well-known by her targets. When she was seen out with her boss's child, things went downhill. Being on an island famous for alpha activity was stupid, but Keska and Sorooth were in the nest trying to make Kessie a sibling.
Going to an island to hang out with friends was the perfect distraction, but ending up in a coma wasn't ideal. Assassins began showing up after that.
