Résumé

Some people move through life in a straight line. Candace Gurnett-Rice is not one of those people. She loses things that are sitting eighteen inches from her head. She walks into rooms for reasons that never come back to her. She buys plants she does not need, and opens Amazon when she meant to open her Notes app. I Have No Idea How We Got Here is a collection of true, very short stories about ordinary life lived by a brain that always takes the scenic route - the dogs who chose her, the turtle who runs the household, the Tinder mishap that somehow ended in a marriage, and the special education classroom that taught her that different doesn't mean less.
Some of these stories are funny. Some are embarrassing. A few aren't funny at all. Life doesn't organize itself into neat categories, and neither does this book. If you have ever walked into a room and forgotten why - or you love someone who does - you will recognize yourself in here. Short chapters, warm humor, and the occasional moment that sneaks up on you.
