Hush! Listen.

HUSH! This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says, "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it."~Isaiah 30:15The word "hush" traces its etymology back to the mid-16th century as a command to "be quiet." In its verb form it suggests that silence is the appropriate posture for whatever is going on in that moment. With that as its back story, HUSH! and Listen recalls the various times in the Bible when God speaks to us.
These scriptures, the very words of God, require a deeper dive into what the author calls the "thus says the Lord" scriptures. As we shut out the noise in times in which doing so is difficult, we quieten ourselves to hear "The Divine" speak those words we so desperately need to hear, in the hope that in the silence of listening we will be drawn even closer to the Trinity. As we set aside the untruths of the era, the Holy Words penetrate our souls and spirits, thus equipping us to better live the faith we profess.
Each devotion in this 40-day collection begins with a Holy Scripture, followed by Commentary and a Prayer. A Reflection section is included to provide you reader with an opportunity for meditating upon what you've read and its application as you continue on your spiritual journey, and a Faith Response section allows space for written comments and thoughts.
