Perfection Theresita Fields is an 11-year-old Black girl with a name as bold as her dreams. With her twelfth birthday just two weeks away, she carries a quiet wish in her heart: to be beautiful. Living in a loving home with her older sister Paradise, her basketball-coach mother, and her builder father, Perfection often feels like she's still searching for her place in the world. As she navigates school, friendships, and the complexities of growing up, Perfection begins to dream beyond mirrors and makeup.
She wants to fly airplanes. She wants to count stars. She wants to rise above the clouds and find her own light. With the help of her best friends Nicole and Brynisha, a birthday party at Six Flags, and heartfelt conversations with her family, Perfection starts to understand that beauty isn't about changing who you are-it's about seeing who you've always been.
