Located in the heart of Western Europe since eternity, liesGermany bordered with Baltic, Rhine and the Alps from thenorth, west and south directions respectively. The east ofGermany however, has no natural border which has causedmuch confusion in the history of Europe. It is a Sovereignstate and has a federal parliamentary republic in thecentral-western Europe. The largest city and the capital ofGermany is Berlin.
Germany is also the second most famoushuman immigration destination after United States along withbeing the most populated member state of the EuropeanUnion. The Northern parts of Germany have been occupied by theGermanic Tribes since the ancient times. A certain region calledGermania was recognised to be from before 100 AD. At thetimes of migration the Germanic Tribes expanded towards theSouthern parts of Germany.
In the advent of the 10th centurythe central territories of Germany had formed the Holy RomanEmpire. 6 centuries later the Northern parts of Germanybecame the hub of Protestant Reformation. Later in the year 1871 many of the German states united withthe Prussians to form the German Empire. It was only afterthe World War I and the German Revolution which took placefrom 1918-1919 that the German Empire was substituted byWeimar Republic parliament.
The institution of Dictatorship inthe year 1933 was the reason for World War II and organisedmassacre. After a term of Allied occupation, two states namely, the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic ofGermany, were founded. It was only in the year 1990 that thecountry was reunited. Germany is a great power today, and has the world's 4thlargest economy. It is a global leader in various technologicaland industrial sectors along with being the world's 3rd largestimporter and exporter of goods.
Today Germany has a highstandard of living and known to be a developed country with aproductive and skilled society. It supports, communal safety andhealth care system along with environment protection and freecollege education.
