Résumé

This book is a journey of discovery into the lives and experiences of the UK's garden birds. We feed them but are mostly unaware of the challenges they face: surviving climate change and the loss of their natural habitat. This book is written with 2 intentions. Firstly, to highlight the unique characters and lifestyles of 25 UK garden and park birds to increase our understanding of their struggles and create space for empathy.
The surprising and sometimes touching details about birds' experiences show them to be worthy of our admiration and respect. The second intention is to provide suggestions on how to help birds in our own back gardens by adopting natural garden practices and providing the habitat elements they need. The aim is to increase biodiversity within gardens which supports all species. Diversity among flowers provides food for a diversity of insects, which feed a diverse range of birds.
These suggestions come from the author's experiences over 5 years making adjustments in a suburban back garden to successfully create a busy, bird-friendly garden.
