Résumé

Samantha (Sam) Kelly grew up between foster homes and more often than not on the streets of London during the seventies and early eighties. As an adolescent, Sam started to make a small living by busking and picking up the odd music gig while she searched for Robert, her American father, who disappeared when she was a child. The plan was that father and daughter would reunite and live as a family, but Robert never sent for her.
Sam remembered Robert's fondness for the city of Berlin, where he lived for some years as a young man after WWII and where he first became a jazz musician. He once told Sam that if they ever became separated by circumstances in life, they should strive to meet by the Berlin Wall on the 4th of July, American Independence Day. As the years pass by and Sam becomes a young woman, she starts to visit Berlin on a yearly basis in the hope that her father might still be searching for her.
But during one of these visits, fate decides to step in and set Sam on a course that will change her life and lead her along a path filled with discoveries about her childhood. This is a story of love and loss, the courage to let go of a painful past, and learning how to open up to love again. But above all, this is a story about gaining the wisdom that will hopefully lead Sam to real happiness. Sam's journey takes place against the backdrop of London's music gig world during the 1980s and the Cold War era in post-WWII Berlin and its iconic Wall.
Sylvia Massara is a multi-genre author based in Sydney, Australia. She loves to dabble in wacky love affairs, drama, murder, scifi (and anything else that takes her fancy) over good coffee. Born in Argentina from Italian descent and with a fusion of Spanish, Swiss and Scandinavian lineage, plus transplanted to Australia at age ten, Sylvia describes herself as a bit of a moggie cat by way of mixed pedigree.
She is also a citizen of the world as she has travelled widely throughout most of her life and she's the proud owner of three passports. As with most authors, Sylvia draws on her varied experience from the often puzzling tapestry of life. She loves nature and communing with the animal kingdom (as her pampered kitty, Mia, will attest) and vicariously through the many characters inside her head. Occasionally, however, Sylvia ventures into the world of humans, albeit for a limited time as she prefers the unconditional and genuine company which animals bring to our planet.
Currently, Sylvia is working on her eighth novel plus she has a number of other projects on the go which have been approved by her eternal muse--the great David Bowie.
