Résumé

Positive psychology is a field of psychology that focuses on the study of positive emotions, experiences, and traits, with the goal of promoting well-being, happiness, and personal growth. Unlike traditional psychology, which has tended to focus on the negative aspects of human behavior and mental health, positive psychology emphasizes the positive aspects of human experience and aims to help individuals and communities flourish.
The science of positive psychology is based on the idea that positive emotions, such as joy, gratitude, and love, can have a powerful impact on our physical and mental health, as well as our relationships and overall well-being. Positive psychologists study the ways in which these emotions can be fostered and cultivated, and they also explore the psychological processes and factors that contribute to positive outcomes, such as resilience, optimism, and personal strengths. Some of the key theories and concepts that underpin positive psychology include:1.                   The broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions: This theory proposes that positive emotions have a broadening effect on our attention and cognition, helping us to think more creatively, be more open-minded, and develop new skills and knowledge.
Over time, these positive experiences can also build our personal resources, including our social connections, physical health, and psychological resilience.2.                  The concept of subjective well-being: This refers to an individual's overall sense of happiness and life satisfaction. Positive psychologists explore the factors that contribute to subjective well-being, such as positive relationships, meaningful work, and a sense of purpose and meaning in life.3.                  The study of character strengths: Positive psychologists identify and study the traits and virtues that contribute to human flourishing, such as kindness, gratitude, perseverance, and love.
By cultivating these character strengths, individuals can enhance their well-being and lead more fulfilling lives. Since the title of this book is the Happiness vortex, we will primarily focus on the science of happiness. So how do you define its concept? Pursuit of happiness has gained significant attention and popularity in recent years, as people strive to improve their overall quality of life and well-being.
It Is important to understand the concept of happiness, as many don't even understand what it means to be happy. In the first galaxy of the book, we will discuss about the pursuit of happiness, which is a part of the US constitution, we cover in more details what happiness entails, our rights and responsibilities to be happy as humans and so much more. Just like any science out there, there are concepts to discuss to better understand the basic of this science.
In this summary, we will explorethe key concepts and principles of happiness as well as its benefits and applications. One of the key concepts of finding happiness is the concept of "flow, " which refers to a state of complete absorption and engagement ina particular activity. In this state, individuals experience a sense of timelessness, where their sense of self disappears, and they become fully immersed in the task at hand.
Flow is typically associated with activities that require a high level of skill and challenge, such as sports, music, or art. When people experience flow, they feel a sense of mastery and accomplishment, which can lead to increased happiness and fulfillment.
French-born Dan Amzallag became an American citizen in 2009 after exploring life in various countries, including Canada and France. He enjoys experiencing and assimilating various cultures and approaches to life. When he was in his 20s and obese, Amzallag decided to transform his life by diligently working out and competing athletically. He grew to have a passion for health, and continued on his path by helping others get healthy and reach their fitness goals.
It was through this work that Amzallag discovered the true meaning of happiness. Amzallag's fourth and recent book, 100 Days or Less to Reaching Your Ultimate Happiness: Secrets of the Universe Revealed, coaches readers through their personal journey to true happiness. His previous works include The American Dream Book: How to Buy or Start a Business Using None of Your Own Cash, Mission Possible: How to Combat Obesity in America, and Gloateus Maximus: The Inside Lives of Personal and Fitness Trainers, published in 2001, 2003, and 2007 respectively.
His following books came right after a 5 years hiatus with the 100 days to Happiness with the completion of his doctorate degree and this How to's in understanding women: Chapter 1 (you can imagine the sarcasm there). Amzallag currently resides in Washington, DC, and operates a transportation company, a fitness-training network, a publishing company, and is a motivational speaker. His passion for finding happiness led him to research, learn, and go through the process to reach his ultimate happiness.
He hopes he can do the same for his readers.
