As a result of contact with ball lightning in childhood, the main character acquires the ability to slow down time. After being drafted into the army, he was sent to Afghanistan, assigned to a group created to test silent sniper weapons in combat conditions. His unique abilities help him and his comrades survive in the brutal reality of that war. After demobilization, he tries to forget about the past and live a normal life as an ordinary citizen in Kiev, Ukraine.
However, in the conditions of rampant post-perestroika banditry, he attracts the attention of the criminal boss, who suspects that our hero managed to take Bin Laden's gold out of Afghanistan. In parallel, he is being hunted by people from the CIA who are interested in his unique sniper capabilities.
