In diesem Buch wird in Form von Lebensbildern auf die evangelische Verkündigung in Erfurt zurückgeblickt. Wir finden stille und vergleichsweise unbekannte Reformatoren, hochgebildete Pfarrer und Professoren, treue Lehrer der Kirche, Seelsorger, Pädagogen, aber auch Pfarrerdynastien, die ganze Generationen geprägt haben.
Die Lebensbilder zeugen von der Breite evangelischer Verkündigung in fünf Jahrhunderten und dem enormen Einfluss dieser Persönlichkeiten auf das Geistesleben, die Politik, das Sozialgefüge, die Kultur und die Stadtgesellschaft insgesamt.
Nicht verwunderlich ist, dass uns zuerst ausschließlich Männer begegnen, aber im 20. Jahrhundert finden sich auch immer mehr Frauen, die das Wort Gottes neu verkündigen. [The Word of God in Erfurt. Protestant Biographies from Five Centuries] In this book, we look back on Protestant preaching in Erfurt in the context of biographies. We find quiet and comparatively unknown reformers, highly educated pastors and professors, faithful teachers of the church, pastors, educators, but also the pastor dynasties that have shaped entire generations. The biographies bear witness to the breadth of Protestant preaching over five centuries and the enormous influence of these personalities on intellectual life, politics, the social fabric, culture and urban society as a whole.
It is not surprising that at first we encounter only men, but in the 20th century we also find more and more women who preach the Word of God anew.
