Résumé
Cash Callahan and Lucky Boone have robbed their last train. At least, that is the plan. After nine years of outlaw work, aging bones, and a gang beginning to turn against them, the longtime partners are ready to discover whether men like them can ever become something else. Their chance arrives through Governor Ambrose Tillinghast's new territorial redemption program: live honestly for an unspecified period, commit no crime of any kind, and receive full pardons for everything in their past.
The condition sounds simple until Tillinghast explains the penalty. One documented misstep-no matter how small-and both men will hang at dawn. Cash and Lucky accept anyway. Their attempt at respectable life leads them to Perdition Flats and the Box H ranch, where honest labor proves difficult in unexpected ways and their reputations refuse to remain buried. When stolen payrolls, frightened townspeople, and problems beyond the reach of local law begin finding their way to the ranch, the former outlaws discover that the skills that once made them dangerous may also make them useful.
But someone is determined to make certain they fail. Bounty hunters track their movements. Old enemies close in. Evidence is manufactured, witnesses are bought, and a forged warrant threatens to turn their attempt at redemption into the trap it may have been from the beginning. To clear their names, Cash and Lucky must expose a political scheme without breaking the law-or becoming the men everyone expects them to be.
Goes Straight launches No Good Deed, a historical Western redemption thriller about outlaw friendship, frontier justice, second chances, and the difficult truth that doing the right thing can be far more dangerous than doing what comes naturally.
