God's word says, "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope, " and also, "Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come." What this means is that God's book of Nehemiah is not just an historical record of events from the past, but was meant by God to teach us spiritual lessons, so that we might avoid the mistakes others made in the past, and that we might live for God's will and glory while on earth! In that lies our greatest blessing as human beings!
