God is in the Journey

Beginning with her childhood, the author traces her life in a strong middle-class family and in a historic Episcopal Church in Southeastern Virginia focusing on her and her family's faithful membership in the church and what she did and did not learn there. "God is in the Journey" is a prequel to her memoir, "Lady Father, " which chronicles her journey to priesthood in the Episcopal Church. It is also filled with anecdotes - both funny and outrageous - as she finds her way through the ordination process of the 1980's when women were not welcome in the all-male Episcopal priesthood and her subsequent ministries in a church that was not quite ready for a woman in priestly garments.
It is a testament to the care and support by her two Bishops who overcame their opposition to women's ordination as they watched this determined woman pursue her call by God to be a priest.
