Résumé

In a near-future, 'gender recognition' legislation is repealed, and it becomes illegal for males to identify as females and females to identify as males. However, due in part to the continued conflation of sex and gender and in part to the insistence that gender align with sex, it also becomes illegal for males to be feminine and females to be masculine. A gender identity dystopia. Category Finalist in the Eric Hoffer Book Award competition 2021 *"A little bit of 1984, a touch of The Handmaid's Tale ..." Alexandra, Goodreads"Great premise.
Great dialogue." sojourner_truth, Ovarit"A gripping read." Katya, Goodreads"Gender Fraud: a fiction will likely motivate the reader to reconsider her presuppositions regarding the sex/gender system and ponder how, within dystopic frameworks in which women who attempt to assert their independence and autonomy are accused of attempting to be male, patriarchy works to perpetuate its project of annihilating, or at least abrading, female subjectivity."  Jocelyn Crawley, Peachy Perspective
Peg Tittle writes issue-driven speculative fiction.  Of her seven novels, two have been finalists for the Eric Hoffer Award (Gender Fraud: a fiction and It Wasn't Enough) and one (What Happened to Tom) is on Goodreads' list of Fiction Books That Opened Your Eyes To A Social Or Political Issue.  In addition, she has written screenplays for two (Exile and What Happened to Tom), named finalist and semi-finalist, respectively, in several competitions. She was a columnist for Philosophy Now and The Philosophy Magazine and continues to write provocative short pieces, two of which were in IEET's top ten of the year, and one of which was published as a McSweeney's list.  Many of these have been anthologized in Sexist Shit that Pisses Me Off and Just Think about It!  While obtaining a Master's degree in Philosophy, she presented papers at the World Congress of Philosophy, the Congress of Learned Societies, and the Society for Philosophy in a Contemporary World.  She also writes literary prose and poetry (chriswind.net) and provocative comedy (jassrichards.com) and, altogether, has received 13 Ontario Arts Council grants and published over 30 books.
