Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, my childhood years were almost normal. At 17, I decided to join the ARMY. Arriving 1977 in Rhein Main, Germany, The country fascinated me from the very first day. It was astounding that there was no garbage lying along the roadsides! I was able to stay in Germany for over five years before I had to return to the U. S. to serve another two and a half years in Savannah, Georgia. After eight and a half years total in the military, I returned to Germany as a civilian.
Hard times followed, due to the fact that being in the NATO in Germany is not counted as 'working in Europe.' But I managed to acquire employment, and since 1984, Germany has been my home with my shiny new permanent residency permit. Because I have found German Grammar impossible to learn, I retained my American accent and developed my own special dialect. When someone ridicules my German, I switch to American slang, cutting words short and speaking faster than any Rapper known! In 2014, I had started taking a new medication for my Essential Tremor affliction, (see my Autobiography: "Gallant I stand with My Shaking Hands"), so I was able to type again.
I had always found writing stories mentally intriguing, ergo; I started anew, with eclectic themes for stories and poetry. Due to lack of conversation in English, sometimes I will know the word in German, forgotten the English word, and have to go to an internet translator to assist me. But with each new story my vocabulary was getting back up to par. It has now been ten years since I started and I am now 66 years old, but in old age, my concentration is not at maximum efficiency anymore.
Because everybody enjoys what I write, I will attempt to continue to send my electrifying thoughts racing to my fingertips and hammer away on my laptop as long as physically and mentally possible. And when your eyes glide smoothly over the pages of my books, your brain will start doing its finest alchemy. Never forget!
