Résumé

Does the intensified endeavour to achieve security in Europe conflict with the preservation of civil rights and liberties? Or is the new direction that civil rights and liberties are currently taking a philosophical, societal imperative? Is an interest in a free society supplanting the hard-won liberty of the individual? Is the security of a society without individual liberty at all conceivable? Can these observations and reflections even be understood as an organic development in modern societies, and, consequently, the "European constitutional state" already on the way to becoming a security state? Does penal law, for example, which otherwise has maximum guarantees in the interest of liberty, increasingly feature preventive policing elements? Finally, is it at all possible to reconcile liberty, security and law?The contributions to this volume deal with these issues, discussing extensively and comprehensively the tense relationship between the need for security and for liberty.

A propos de Krisztina Karsai

Dr. Krisztina Karsai, geb. 1972, ist seit 1996 als Juristin tätig und beschäftigt sich mit Strafrechtswissenschaft an der Universität Szeged (Ungarn). 2006 war sie Humboldt-Stipendiatin an der Universität Gießen. Prof. Dr. Ferenc Nagy ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Strafrecht und Strafprozessrecht und Lehrstuhlleiter an der Universität Szeged, Ungarn. Dr. Zsolt Szomora, geb. 1980, ist seit 2003 am Lehrstuhl für Strafrecht und Strafprozessrecht an der Universität Szeged (Ungarn) tätig.
Er promovierte im Jahre 2008, derzeit ist er Senior Assistent am Lehrstuhl. Prof. Dr. Prof. h.c. Arndt Sinn ist Gründer und Direktor des Zentrums für Europäische und Internationale Strafrechtsstudien und lehrt Deutsches und Europäisches Straf- und Strafprozessrecht, Internationales Strafrecht sowie Strafrechtsvergleichung an der Universität Osnabrück. Er ist Verfasser zahlreicher Aufsätze und Bücher zur Organisierten Kriminalität sowie Mitglied im wissenschaftlichen Beirat zum SOCTA Bericht Europols.
