Résumé

My therapist said I needed to get out of my comfort zone. I suggested the swim club-less talking, more hiding underwater. She warned it would be "too vulnerable" and gently nudged a bird-watching club flyer across her desk. Bird watching? I'd rather watch paint dry. But she insisted that the "quiet, observational nature" of the bird-watching club was better suited to my. temperament. So she thought I was boring.
Boring. Fine. Out of pure spite, I joined the swim club anyway. And I persisted-even after I discovered that the Meridian Co-Ed Swim Club was a freeuse club. Quitting would've meant facing Dr. Evans and her inevitable "I told you so." So I stayed. And let's just say. my social muscles weren't the only muscles getting stretched.
