Résumé

"You make every room harder to be in, " Jin says. "You know that?"Noah doesn't answer. He keeps his expression professional, his posture measured, his voice the steady, coaching-register calm he has been perfecting for eight months. He does not say: I know. I know, because you walk into every room first. Jin Caslo comes back to the gaming house after six weeks of hospitals, outpatient recovery, and his sister's careful watch - cleared for light activity, medically signed-off, and carrying a gap in his memory that no paperwork can fill.
He remembers the smell of the house before he remembers the house itself. He remembers the shape of his chair before he remembers sitting in it. What he doesn't remember - what the injury took and hasn't returned - is Noah Park. His coach. The thirty-one days before the end of the regular season. And whatever it was that lived in the analyst room at two in the morning when the rest of the team was asleep.
Noah Park has spent four months not naming what Jin is to him. He built his career on the careful architecture of keeping things in the correct categories: here is the team, here is the player, here is what a coach is responsible for and what he is not. It is a system with one specific flaw. It requires everything to stay where you put it. Jin has never stayed where Noah put him. Set in the tightly-wound world of competitive esports - training schedules, qualifying brackets, late-night footage reviews, and the particular intimacy of six people living and competing inside a single building - Frame Drop is a slow-burn, dual-timeline romance about two people falling toward each other while navigating what one of them can no longer remember.
Told in intercut chapters of THEN and NOW, the novel moves between the year of accumulation - the way Jin became someone Noah couldn't categorize, the way Noah became the fixed point Jin navigated from - and the present, where Jin is rebuilding and Noah is holding still, waiting to see what remains when the architecture of a person reassembles itself. This is a story about the things the body keeps when the mind lets go.
About coaches who catalog when they should confess. About players who read the gap before it opens. About what it means to fall in love with someone twice - and whether the second time is something new, or simply the return of something that was always true. Can Noah hold the boundary between coach and the person who matters most to him? Can Jin trust what his hands know before his memory catches up? And when Jin leans forward in the blue-white monitor light and settles Noah's glasses back onto his face - adjusting them at the left temple, the way he always has, the way he apparently always did - will Noah finally say the thing he spent a year and a half refusing to name?Falling in love twice is its own kind of violence.
But some things survive the fall. Twice.
