Résumé

Her knock-off hiking boots made the anger fueling her trek more satisfying. The springy newness hadn't yet worn off, and she bounced from one scrubby mogul to another, attempting to work off her rage. Yet after several hours tromping through the scrubby forest brush surrounding her apartment complex's property, her fury remained.  The nerve of that woman! Had she ever known someone so innately malicious and caustic? The performance review seemed a simple process.     Ohni has just made her life much more complicated.
In a fit of anger during her performance review, she has alienated the one with the authority to credit or debit the many hours she has accrued working at New Start Social Services. Ohni wins her appeal and is reinstated, but at the price of being treated as her supervisor's own Cinderella.      When Ohni flees from Kansas to Colorado, she thinks she's solved her problems, but they follow her to Denver; where she begins to work at a church.
Will she accept help from the Christian folks who want to share their resources and their faith with her? Or will she end up back where she started, little more than a slave to her supervisor?
