Résumé
Scotland, 1701. Abused by his owner, Davie Flockhart, a Scottish collier, escapes slavery and joins the army. But his past isn't easily left behind. While Flockhart fights his way through fierce battles in Blenheim and Ramillies, his previous owner, the powerful Lord Eskbank, wants his property returned - by any means necessary. Helped by loyal comrades and Rachel, a tough camp follower who is fast becoming his sweetheart, Flockhart wonders if he will ever be truly free.
Set against the sweeping backdrop of the War of the Spanish Succession, FOLLOWING THE DRUM WITH CORPORAL JOHN is a tale of courage, loyalty, and survival.
