Michael Punke a grandi dans le Wyoming et a longtemps vécu dans le Montana. Il a travaillé à la Maison-Blanche comme Directeur des affaires économiques internationales ainsi qu'au Conseil de sécurité nationale et au Conseil économique national. Aujourd'hui, il est ambassadeur et le représentant permanent des Etats-Unis auprès de l'OMC et vit à Genève. Outre son roman, Le Revenant, en cours d'adaptationau cinéma, il a publié deux ouvrages sur l'histoire de l'Ouest américain et deux scénarios.
