This book shares my life story, from my childhood, through my journey in the dry places, to how God has led me into my destiny and purpose. Each chapter is meant to encourage you to keep moving forward in life, understanding that there is a season for everything. This book is not an exhaustive study-there's much more that could be written. However, it comes from my heart and touches on the major aspects of a wilderness season.
The purpose of this book is to introduce you to the concept of the wilderness so that God can help you apply this message to your own life. As the scripture says, "To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose"(Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV). In this book, I will discuss what the wilderness is and what it isn't-its purpose and its benefits. My prayer is that, through these examples, illustrations, and words of instruction, you will learn how to walk wisely through your wilderness season.
As you read, you will notice that many of my personal experiences happened while I was still in school and during the early years of my ministry at Worship Harvest Ministries, where I served as both an associate pastor and a location pastor. Have there been other wilderness seasons in my life? Yes. But by the time they came, I had gained a better understanding of what they meant. I wasn't crying out repeatedly, "God, what is happening?" because I had learned from previous seasons to recognize what was going on and how to respond appropriately.
I've spoken with countless men and women, mostly young people, who are in the midst of their wilderness season. In our conversations, I often hear confusion and frustration. Many have no idea what's happening. But there are seasons in our lives, and every season has a purpose. It is important to understand the purpose of each season in order to respond correctly. In this book, I aim to share my understanding of this important season of pruning and strengthening.
