The Era of Nighttime Has Begun... Forty years have passed since the end of the vampire/human war. Vampires have taken over the planet and have settled in, making themselves comfortable in the infrastructure their predecessors built, with just a few adjustments to ensure a permanent night. Humans still exist, tightly controlled, because the alpha species needs to eat. But even after four decades of peace, Reginald can't shake his conviction that the war never really ended - that the archive he still holds in his blood warns of an ominous change on the horizon. As old foes rise, the power structures of both races begin to falter and the very existence of life on Earth (both hot-blooded and undead) hangs in the balance.
Rebel humans have developed new and frightening weapons, and they aren't afraid to use them even if it could mean the end of everything. And Reginald Baskin - always an outcast, always neglected - may be the only chance to stop it. But as Reginald steps into his destined role as a leader, he faces a hideous inevitability that even he never saw coming . and that he may be too late to prevent. Keep on reading Johnny B.
Truant's blockbuster series, and you'll never look at vampires (or vampire stories) the same way again. ????? "WOW!! If you haven't read this series then stop what you're doing and read 'Fat Vampire'. Johnny has taken the typical vampire mythos and changed it so that's it a story about what does it mean to be a person, how things at odds can be connected and don't judge someone by their looks/abilities." -- Reginald Singler ????? "Reginald's constant lack of physical abilities and subsequent issues because of it are always good for a chuckle, but there was more to the story than laughs.
The characters were vibrant and interesting and there was lots of "mysterious" stuff going on too. Overall, this was one great ride and certainly the needed counterbalance to all the "beautiful" vampire stories out there. Now, because of the author's sense of humor, I'm trying out Unicorn Western, which promises to be another different take on an old standard." -- Robin Surface ????? "This is one of the most unique vampire series...and the most unique vampire.
Its humorous and thought provoking, with the funniest sex scenes ever. This last book really answered questions and gave another new way of thinking about vampires...the whole series was leading to this unexpected end. It made you think.."well, of course". -- Keir ????? "I read the whole series I couldn't put it down it was totally different outside the Box I love the characters there's nothing I didn't like it was fast paced intriguing funny sad all motions rolled up into one you have got to read this series it bites you and doesn't like go." -- Lynnette ????? "I think the Fat Vampire series might be the smartest vampire epic that exists.
I didn't say "brilliant"-even though it totally is-because the word brilliant get thrown around a lot nowadays in a lot of different contexts. Survival of the Fattest, though, is really, really intelligent in its reasoning for how the human and vampire populations need one another and super-imaginative in the ways both species have evolved since Book 5. Book 6 is the perfect last piece of the puzzle, an awesome ending to an awesome series, and the final scene takes us out on a perfect note." -- elfshanx
