Résumé
"Little Tales of Rehavan" are a series of novelettes and long short stories about the smaller folk of Rehavan, the kind of farmers and miners and common folk who might be overlooked in the "First Immortals" and "Nations End" novels. Two brothers doomed to a future of dreary toil on their father's farm face a stark choice: escape and abandon their family to poverty or stay and give up all hope of another life.
Eurik leaves to join the cavalry. Gerrick stays and breaks his body to maintain the family farm and care for their younger sister Talia. Harvest nears, and Talia watches her father growing weak with illness while her remaining brother breaks under his growing load. As her family fractures around her and she sees those she loves consumed by resentment, hatred, and despair, she discovers the darkness of life and feels her grasp on childhood weakening.
Then, in the midst of this swirling bitterness, a miracle blooms. The fairy migration comes to Candeline for the first time in seventy years. Mortal turmoil meets with magic, and wonder touches on the mundane. A story of family, romance, pain, forgiveness, and the enduring wonder of childhood.
