Tia and her companions fled through mystic portals to escape a demonic apocalypse. They found themselves scattered along a narrow ribbon of land wrapped around a world of water, dotted with alien 'Shrines, ' and populated by strange races. Reuniting means joining the pilgrim bands that make perilous journeys through both human and inhuman domains. Their journeys cover immense distances and many years, bringing transformation, opportunity, and danger both ordinary and supernatural. 'Exiles: Pilgrimage' was originally supposed to be an extended epilogue to 'Empire: Judgment, ' but rapidly turned into a tale in its own right.
