Leo Ariel Buchmann, born 1959 in Lysekil, West-Sweden, studied engineering and economics at Chalmers University of Technology while developing his military career in the Swedish army, ranking Överstelöjtnant (OF-4, Lieutenant-Colonel). Subsequently he was independent engineering consultant for over 20 years, mainly in Africa but also the Caribbean.
He divides, as all traditional Swedes, his time between Stockholm and his cabin by the Baltic sea.
When it is too dank and dreary up there, he visits friends all over the world or is sailing with his wife Sybilla (also an author!), and as per occasion, with permutations of their four grown-ups. The two dogs (dobies.) don't want to sail though they stay at home with friends. Every January 1st he continues to promises to do more for Mensa International. What can I tell you? I am past the middle of my lifespan, Swedish, and happily living with my husband, our house, and our dog.
The children have long since left home. Life is quiet now-almost reclusive-but deeply rich. My parents were British and German. I once studied law (though I never actually used it). Earlier in life I travelled extensively around the world, often to surprisingly remote places. My work as a global production and marketing coordinator for a major equestrian equipment company took me far and wide-four-star hotels, horses, and fascinating encounters in many countries.
That was another life, and another story. Today my husband and I live surrounded by a beautiful landscape, which inspires me to write. I enjoy observing the sometimes wonderful, sometimes strange, and occasionally downright bizarre world around us. My two first names say something about me. Sybilla, from Greek, means "prophetess" or "oracle." Ingeborg is an old Scandinavian name meaning "protected by Ing, " the Norse deity associated with peace, prosperity, and fertility.
I have always liked the symbolism in those names. My parents also gave me something even more valuable: a love of nature and curiosity about the big questions-body and mind, humanity's place in the universe, natural laws, gods, love, and desire. These themes often find their way into my books. I prefer to let the stories speak for themselves. Enjoy books, life, love, and nature. - Sybilla
