Résumé

This Ebook provides you with a history of the significant events and strategic significance surrounding the fortress of El Morro. Relive the attempts of privateers and foreign invaders to take the fort from the Spanish colonial empire.  A must see site in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.                                                                                                                                                                                    - Whether you want to learn more about Puerto Rico or more information about your Caribbean cruise shore excursion this provides a more in depth historical background than found in common guide books. - El Morro, also known as Castillo de San Felipe de Morro, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1933. - Spain raced to build this fortress on the edge of the known world in 1540 through to 1589; they recognized the site was critical to control the wealth of the New Spain.
This was the most sophisticated fortress design of the day. - Foreign powers longed to seize this fort and the key to Spain's New World riches. Follow Sir Francis Drake, the English Sea Dog, when the Spanish treasure slipped from his grasp here. - The Dutch and British repeatedly tried to take control of San Juan and El Morro. Numerous pictures provide insight in what to expect.
I was born in state far away in the early 1950s while my father was getting his masters degree in geology. I spent my formative years in Indian and Spanish uranium boom towns in New Mexico. I went to high school in Oklahoma. I worked my way up in the oil field to be a supervisor of offshore operations on international assignment. I saved enough to pay for law school. I obtained two law degrees. I managed a policy unit for the State of California and provided guidance and instructions on compliance with federal and state healthcare initiatives.
Retirement from that position allows me to pursue more enjoyable writing projects. I have a Facebook page where I can post high quality, color images. The email button works. If you see something you like and want to see a better version, I can post full size pictures to an album or send it by other means. https://www.facebook.com/2BruceClark/I'm willing to discuss professional grade photo papers or Giclée. Thanks for looking.
