Résumé

The unit has returned to Fort Horizon, but the familiar gates offer little comfort. While the physical battle has ended, a different kind of war has begun-a quiet, internal struggle to reconcile the horrors of the field with the mundane reality of "normal" life. PFC Liam O'Connell finds himself a stranger in his own home, while Staff Sergeant Maria Chavez masks her own post-traumatic stress to lead a new generation of eager, inexperienced recruits who have no idea what the veterans have truly lost.
The scars of the deployment reach far beyond the individual soldier. Major Benjamin Walker and Colonel Marcus Vance are thrust into a political minefield, forced to defend the mission's purpose to a skeptical media and government hearings. As a surprise drill exposes the fraying mental state of the battle-worn unit, the arrival of PCS orders signals the ultimate end of an era. The bonds forged in blood are about to be tested by distance, as the original cast prepares to scatter toward diverging paths and new, unfamiliar horizons.
