Résumé

When Ebon Black turns 16 years of age, he will inherit his deceased father's fortune, which will make him The Richest Of Them All. The current holder of that title, Malachite Vert, is determined that Ebon should not live to see that birthday, and hatches a plan to get rid of him. He also happens to be Ebon's stepfather. Ebon survives the attempt on his life, but loses his memory in the process. He awakens to find that he's been rescued by seven young women known as Dryads, the Keepers of the Trees.
They are Joc, Weepy, Cranky, Glitzy, Nerdy, Needy and Pam. In this new twist on a classic tale, it's a race against the clock as Ebon and the seven Dryads must work together to get Ebon his memory back, teach him the ways of the woods, and return him home in time to claim his rightful place in society. EBON BLACK AND THE SEVEN DRYADS is suitable for readers young and less-young. It includes an unforgettable cast of characters, some unexpected turns, and a moral for a modern age.
Sue Maynard was born and raised in the rural Canadian village of Creemore, ON (yes, like the beer), but currently hangs her hat in the much bigger metropolis of Mordor...er... Toronto. She is a proud Browncoat, a horror geek girl, and an overall sci fi nerd. In addition to writing, Sue loves animals (especially bears - they are her spirit animal), Coca Cola, movies, books, comicons, and webcasting via The Mind Reels.
The first edition of Carving the Light was Sue's first novel, originally written for the 2009 NaNoWriMo challenge. It not only marked both her first year as a NaNo participant, but also her first recorded 'win'. In addition, it holds the dubious distinction of being the first project of this magnitude that Sue has ever managed to actually complete, as she has not always been the biggest fan of finishing what she starts.
Sue has, however, been known to step into a room and immediately map out her escape plan in the case of a zombie attack. So maybe she's just been conserving her energy for that.
