Angel City has over two million inhabitants, not all of them are human. Erika is a paramedic working for Other Medical Transport, an ambulance service that is called out for the nonhuman residents of Angel city. If a dryad needs dialysis or shifter needs to be transported to Jones EMS for treatment after an attack, Erika and her rookie partner are called in. She works hard, being one of the very few paramedics who can be reliably called on to deal with any of the many varied races living in and around Angel city.  Her roommate, Rain Swiftwing is a hot Hunter, one of the secret police force that both protects and defends all races inside the city limits.
Thanks to their schedules they rarely get to even say hello and goodbye but one night when Erika had fallen asleep in the tub after a double shift Rain comes home injured. She treats his injuries and they finally talk, learning that they both share an attraction. Will it go anywhere or will their lives and the danger growing in the city get between them before it can?
