Résumé

My name is Cain Fairbourne, and I'm the oldest and most powerful dream master in existence. I lead a pretty comfortable life until Dagen, a fellow dream master, is murdered. He was about to be sent to Earth to protect a human, and now I'm bound to take over his assignment. Protecting a human is boring most of the time. However, Tate Crawford is many things, but boring isn't one of them. What starts as a simple task quickly changes when I find out who is after Tate and why.
When the full extent of the threat becomes clear, a race against time begins. It's not until I delve deep into Tate's past that I slowly discover why a rogue sandman is hell-bent on killing Tate. I need all of my abilities to keep the sweet human safe. In the meantime, I'm hit by the blast of the past, a very painful past, I might add. Arlon, a sandman who disappeared many years ago, turns up. We all thought that he was dead.
What I didn't know back then was that he didn't disappear but crossed to the dark side. TATE  I have suffered from nightmares ever since my twin was murdered, but for the life of me, I can't remember the dreams. How do I know that they are nightmares? Well, that's simple because I wake up soaking wet, exhausted, and feeling empty and full of rage. That's how I know. It seems that I was the one who found the dead body of my twin, but I don't really remember.
After that, I apparently lost it because I was admitted to the Golden River facility or mental hospital. I'm home now and was lucky enough to get hired back as a medical examiner after having spent a year in a mental facility. Still, I suffer from memory loss and seeing things that aren't there, or are they there? I feel a presence shadowing me, but when I search the area, I find myself alone every time. Am I really going crazy? I need to ask myself what's real and what isn't.
