Résumé

R-HIT: The Smarter Way for Advanced Lifters to Build Muscle, Preserve Joints, and Train for LifeAre you an experienced lifter over 40, 50, or 60? Have you spent decades under the bar, but now find that your recovery, joints, or nervous system can't handle the same old high-volume routines? R-HIT is here to change that. R-HIT (Recovery High-Intensity Training) is a modern evolution of classic HIT methods, designed specifically for advanced, aging athletes.
It's not about training harder - it's about training smarter. This system maximizes muscle growth, strength, and longevity while respecting your recovery limits. Inside this book, you'll discover: Precise, low-volume workouts that stimulate muscle without overtaxing your joints or nervous system. One set per exercise using optimal, research-backed rep ranges (3-7 reps) and controlled tempo. A full exercise library, including EMG- and MRI-validated movements for chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs, and core.
Flexible weekly routines (2- or 3-day splits) and "Survival Routines" for low-energy or high-stress periods. Autoregulation guidance, so you know when to push, when to rest, and how to make progress safely. Science-backed reasoning for why sub-failure training works, why CNS fatigue hits faster in experienced lifters, and why micro-progressions matter. Supplement advice for preserving muscle and supporting recovery, including HMB, creatine, and protein.
Whether you want to maintain hard-earned muscle, grow safely, or train efficiently for decades, R-HIT is your blueprint for sustainable, high-quality results. Stop chasing hype or endless reps. Train smarter, recover faster, and make every set count. Start your R-HIT journey today - the system your experience and body have been waiting for.
Dr. Oern is a Norwegian trainer, author, and university lecturer with over 38 years as an active strength athlete and 32 years as a personal trainer. He has worked with a wide range of athletes, with a particular focus on how older and experienced athletes can train smart, effectively, and safely with reduced recovery capacity. As the creator of the R-HIT System, he combines research, experience, and advanced methodology inspired by-but developed beyond-Mike Mentzer and other pioneers of high-intensity training.
His books are known for being practical, clear, and evidence-based, while still being easy to apply for both recreational exercisers and advanced athletes. He primarily writes about strength training, bodybuilding, recovery, senior training, and supplementation, developing systems that make training more effective and sustainable over time. No matter the topic, his goal is always the same: to provide readers with clear tools, solid principles, and knowledge that delivers real results.
