Résumé

A brave dog, torn from his home and forced into a life of captivity, will stop at nothing to return to the outback and the children he remembers fondlyDigger, a loyal cattle dog, is snatched from his peaceful outback station and thrust into the chaotic world of television. Courageous and resilient, Digger refuses to let his cruel trainer break his spirit, and takes the chance to escape. He starts the long journey home.
He meets animals and people in need, and saves them from danger. Alone, he faces challenges like floods and bushfires, but he never loses sight of his ultimate goal - his beloved outback home and the family he remembers so fondly. But as he journeys through unfamiliar territory, will he be able to find his way back to the children he longs for, before it's too late?An entertaining and uplifting story of a dog's determination to turn grief into hope.
Barbara was born in a small Australian town in 1942, educated for 9 years in a one-roomed school with all grades taught by a single teacher. She then left home at 14, to spend 4 years in a girls' boarding school, followed by 8 years at Universities. After marrying and raising 2 daughters, she taught in high schools, universities and adult education for 20 years.  She is now widowed and has a teenage grandson.
She has been writing stories ever since childhood, her chief influences are Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and Ngaio Marsh. Her adult stories are mostly gentle romances. She also writes specifically about Australia: a memoir of growing up on a farm in the 1950s, and cosy mysteries set in scattered sites across Australia, all of which she has visited and knows well.
