Résumé
During the last few decades, the process of identity development among young people has become delayed and the content of it has also changed, due to changes in society in general and in family dynamics. A strong urge to explore in many areas and less commitment to educational, occupational and partnership concerns have become typical. The body is the focus of attention for both boys and girls, although with widely differing evaluations; sexual identity and partner preferences have become highly variable.
This volume describes the process of identity development and ways in which it is threatened in an age of increased narcissism, extreme changes in parenting styles and increasing cultural diversity.
