[Diaspora and Mission.
Experience and Mandate of Christian Churches in Plural Germany] All Christians in Germany are in some or other way affected by a situation of dispersion ("diaspora"), whether as a member of a church in a minority situation, or as member of one of the majority churches as counterpart of the "Diaspora"-churches. They are on the one hand facing challenges concerning both their coexistence as minorities/majority and their common relations to other religions and the "world", i.
e. society in general. On the other hand there are also opportunities to discover which could make the "diaspora"-complex a catalyst for ecumenical, cultural and social developments in Germany. The new study by the Faith and Order Commission of the German Council of Churches (DÖSTA) takes multilateral ecumenism as a point of departure to describe the plural ecclesiastical situation in Germany, to analyse it theologically, to interpret it with respect to the categories "diaspora and mission", and to advance possible courses of action for the Churches and parishes.
