»Den Nächsten kennen wie sich selbst« ist das Motto des Konfessionskundlichen Instituts des Evangelischen Bundes in Bensheim. Es beschreibt seine Arbeit, die Welt der christlichen Konfessionen und Ökumene zu beobachten und aus evangelischer Sicht zu beschreiben. Der derzeitigen Leiterin Dagmar Heller ist dieser Band gewidmet. Darin werden zum einen Einblicke in die Konfessionskunde gegeben und zugleich auch der Blick in die Zukunft gerichtet.
So werden Fragen nach der Beteiligung von Frauen in der syrisch-orthodoxen Kirche und nach der Bedeutung des Konzils von Nizäa im heutigen ökumenischen Gespräch gestellt oder aber Ökumenisch-konfessionskundliches Lernen in der universitären Ausbildung thematisiert. [Knowing Your Neighbor as Yourself. Confessional Insights and Ecumenical Perspectives] »Knowing Your Neighbor as Yourself« is the motto of the Konfessionskundlichen Institut of the Evangelischen Bund in Bensheim.
It describes its work of observing the world of Christian denominations and ecumenism and describing it from a Protestant perspective. This volume is dedicated to the current director, Dagmar Heller. It provides insights into confessional studies while also looking to the future. For example, it addresses the question of women's participation in the Syrian Orthodox Church, the significance of the Council of Nicaea in today's ecumenical dialogue, and ecumenical confessional studies in university education.
