Résumé

This prequel can be read at any point throughout the series. Survival of the fittest. Those four words accompanied me into the inferno. Followed by four others. I am the weak. And knowing I deserved far worse than death, I let the fire inside me burn. Before the fever, a deadly plan was set in motion from which a single text altered the world beyond remedy--three words that changed humanity forever.
It is time. After the Great Transformation, life in the North was miserable and bleak for those who remained. Loved ones were mourned. Survivors heard voices and could do impossibly unnatural things. Yet, amidst the fear and uncertainty, the grief and despair, Bert, Ross, Kat, and Cal found a semblance of hope. These are the stories of those who survived the beginning. Reading Order:The Darkest WinterThe Longest NightMidnight SunFading ShadowsUntamedUnbrokenDay Zero: Origin Stories
Lindsey Pogue has always been a little quirky. When she was a kid, she helped establish a bug hospital on her elementary school soccer field (none of the insects survived, unfortunately) and as a teenager she preferred writing to being very social. She wrote her first new adult manuscript in high school, and she's been writing stories of love and friendship, history, and adventure ever since. When she's not plotting her next storyline or dreaming up new, brooding characters, she's usually wrapped in blankets watching her favorite action flicks, reading, eating Mexican food, or going on road trips with her own leading man.
