Based on modern methods on social memory taken from cultural studies the author of this volume presents a model for reading Biblical texts as collective memories, the example here being the Gospel of Mark. Based on modern methods on social memory taken from cultural studies the author of this volume presents a model for reading Biblical texts as collective memories, the example here being the Gospel of Mark.
This Gospel is shown to be a text that derives from collective narrative memory based on recollections of Jesus´ life and teachings. This volume foremost serves to stimulate discussion about the methods employed in studies of the Gospel of Mark as well as presenting a contribution to ongoing interdisciplinary Biblical research.
