Résumé
Religion verspricht Erlösung, daher können mit Recht alle, aber auch nur diejenigen Menschen als »religiös musikalisch« gelten, die ein Bedürfnis nach Erlösung verspüren. Freilich hat jede Religion mindestens drei ärgerniserregende Hürden errichtet, die überwunden werden müssen, um ihr Erlösungsversprechen als glaubwürdig einstufen zu können: erstens das Skandalon (der Erfahrung) des Übels in der Welt; zweitens die Provokation von Scham und Schuldbewusstsein als vermeintlich notwendigen Bedingungen für die Möglichkeit berechtigter Erlösungsgewissheit; und drittens den Gedanken des (in der Regel: stellvertretenden) Opfers als einer notwendigen Vorbedingung göttlicher Erlösungsbereitschaft.
Die sechs Texte des vorliegenden Bandes, die ausnahmslos auf Vorträge zurückgehen, die im Rahmen der sogenannten Paul-Tillich-Lectures zwischen 2020 und 2022 an der Evangelischen Akademie Frankfurt gehalten wurden, diskutieren diese drei Herausforderungen aus philosophischer und theologischer Perspektive. Mit Beiträgen von Knut Berner, Ingolf U. Dalferth, Gesche Linde, Maria S. Lotter, Thomas Schmidt und Claudia Welz. [Evil - Shame - Sacrifice.
Three Core Religious Phenomena from a Philosophical-Theological Perspective] Religions promise and offer redemption; therefore all, yet also only those who have and perceive in themselves a desire for redemption can rightly be considered religious. Three obstacles stand in the way, however, when it comes to believing the redemptive message of any given religion: first, the challenge of (experiencing) evil; second, shame and guilt as purported preconditions for and trajectories to religion; third, the idea of sacrifice as a prerequisite and necessary medium for generating and motivating any redemptive willingness on the part of the deity.
The present volume contains six articles - proceedings of the Paul-Tillich-Lectures held at Evangelische Akademie Frankfurt between 2020 and 2022; they discuss the three challenges just mentioned from the perspective of philosophy and theology, respectively.
