Résumé

This book entitled 'DARKER SIDES OF INDIAN TEACHING' brings to the readers thelifetime experience of the author about the Technical Education system of the country. Thoughhe served many colleges of the vast state of Maharashtra, but it is crystal clear the picture is sameevery where in the country. The author does have a chequered experience of more than thirty-three years as a fulltime faculty of Engineering.
The author does have the experience of bothprivate and Government Engineering colleges. The author did have the scope to watch theteaching system from very close quarters and hundreds of loop holes are observed and narratedin this book. This loop holes are not related to a single college or university; it is related to thehigher and technical education across the nation. Even IITs and NITs are not ruled out.
Theauthor narrated the inexpressible pain of the students' community and the hypocrisy of the IndianTeaching Community. There is no intention to target any individual or any single institute, but allthe incidents narrated in this text are true. Description about students from various corners of thecountry are clearly penned down by the author. A clear idea is given about the examinationsystem and question setting system.
Proper light is thrown on the assessment system. Politics inteaching is properly portrayed. Nepotism and casteism are also taken care of. Knowledge of anordinary Indian professor is challenged. Heinous characters of college Principals of differentcolleges are properly highlighted. Corruption in teaching is discussed. In detail discussion isthere about the election of the professional bodies, Board of Studies, Dean, Academic Counciland Management Council of the university.
Last but not the least it is candidly expressed how thehigher authority is worthless.
