Résumé
The world has a long memory. It remembers every war, every oath, every drop of blood used to sign a treaty that was never meant to last. It remembers the demon who dissolved himself into a seal so that humans could sleep at night without knowing what had been sacrificed to buy them that comfort. It remembers the spear forged from a prince's bones - and the woman who carries it without knowing she is walking a grave.
What she knows: her Crimson Core is cracked, her weapon is gone, and the only weaponsmith who can fix either of these problems is a dwarf with too many secrets and a workshop full of things that shouldn't exist. What she doesn't know: the errand that starts in a workshop will end at the bottom of a sea that has been waiting for her specifically. Along the way there will be a ship and a captain who dies at his wheel without letting go. There will be toads the size of warehouses, a demon who has been sleeping in one of them for a thousand years, and a dragon-demon hybrid who will dismantle half of a criminal empire and walk away from it looking for directions to a mountain that she is absolutely certain has a nipple.
The seal is cracking. The fang is drawn. And somewhere at the bottom of Lake Tethys, something ancient is remembering it was never supposed to stay buried. The true end of this errand lies deeper, where the air turns into a suffocating soup of raw power. And through the breathing stone and the shadows full of teeth, the seal isn't just cracking. It is dissolving into Freiya's very veins.. Some debts don't wait.
Some doors open from the inside. And some weapons know exactly who is carrying them, even when the carrier doesn't.
