Résumé

Most of us spend a great deal of time wondering what happens to us at the ends of our lives. Many cling to some form of faith, while others are convinced that our consciousness simply ceases when our body dies. We question whether there is a God, whether there is a Hell, whether our consciousness is eternal, or whether we should be concerned about the fate of our immortal soul. Over millennia, countless remarkable people have pondered these questions and committed their reasoning and conclusions to scrolls, books, and, more recently, online platforms such as YouTube.
There is so much material to explore-much of it convoluted, complex, and time-consuming-that it can be daunting even to begin such research. Ashton Martin Garforth has explored a great deal of this material and presents his observations in a way that helps to short-circuit that laborious process. Rather than attempting to impose his worldview on readers, Garforth offers enough to encourage them to re-examine their own.
A useful feature of Curiosity, Imagination, Faith and Reason is the extensive list of reference material-books and YouTube videos-that readers may draw upon for further study whenever they feel inspired to do so. Garforth also recounts openly his personal movement away from an early, deep Christian belief to eventual atheism, shaped by interaction with his admired parents, high-level education, a successful marriage, evangelical church attendance, professionally motivated travel around the world, and deep introspection.
