Hunting had always been a desire of Derek's. Hearing his classmates recount their first experiences, he yearned for a similar thrill. When his father finally gave him the chance, however, he hesitated. Following a storm that trapped them in the underbrush, strange things are now happening in the Rocky Mountain forests. Something monstrous is hunting them. This thing, which stalks them without rhyme or reason, he calls the Not-Howl.
Can man overcome nature's retort? This short story briefly shows what it feels like to be the hunted, instead of the hunter.
