Résumé

Genetic engineering and nanotechnology have given the donai  long lives but still condemned them to extinction. House Dobromil wants to reunite both races, human and donai, to combine only the most desirable traits of each into their House's genome. The process has been deadly to humans. Until now. Cultures and passions clash in this epic, adventurous space opera about honor, bravery, and love (that does not fade to black).  For those who enjoy deep plots, intense worldbuilding, unforgettable characters, and stories about feuding noble Houses, political intrigues, and technology advanced enough to be magic. Series reading order: Bonds of Love and Duty, a short story in Fantastic Hope, edited by Laurell K.

Monalisa won life's lottery when she escaped communism and became an unhyphenated American citizen. Her works tend to explore themes of freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility. Despite her degree in physics, she's worked in several fields including engineering and medicine. She and her husband are living their happily ever after in Texas. Her primary genre is science fiction--from hard sci-fi to alternate history to space opera.
She has also written some contemporary fiction, as well as dystopian and military sci-fi. She describes her work as science fiction with heart, because life is too short without at least a bit of romance in it.
