Résumé

Connor's life is transformed when he's hurled through time, living as different versions of himself in the 9th, 11th, 19th, and 20th centuries. At first, he thinks his mother's curse has transformed him into a character in a computer game, but the scars, battles, and emotional bonds he forms-especially with figures like Alfred and Aethel-feel all too real. As his time-travel adventures reshape his values and strain his real life, Connor returns home, changed, retaining the medieval persona, which forces him to hide the truth with elaborate lies and theatrics.
When his medieval sparring master, Aonghus, follows him into the present, Connor begins to question what's real-and realises he can't manage his double life alone. Haunted by echoes of his medieval past, he struggles to balance his double life. When his parents confront him about his injuries, he confesses the truth. Shockingly, his mother believes him and sends him to a mysterious grandmother in Cape Town, South Africa, who understands his gift.
In South Africa, his medieval appearances attract suspicion. His attitude changes as his emotions are captivated by the most beautiful girl he has ever seen and familiar faces from the past. The emotions stir longing for an everyday life he fears he can't have. Starting school, he recognises reincarnated brothers and wonders if they'll accept his secret. When his medieval sparring partner also travels with him to South Africa, the constant theatrics to maintain his façade are extended to his brothers.
He encounters people from past quests in his daily life, confirming there's no escaping this new reality. Amidst the confusion, he must face his fear, embrace his new identity, and fight for the love of the most beautiful girl he has ever met, whilst establishing a sense of belonging in his real world.
