Résumé

The New York trip was supposed to be the answer to everything. It was not. With their best lead turning up empty and Aiden's condition refusing to cooperate, there's only one reasonable response. mild panic, immediately followed by Calder talking Aiden off the ledge with patience. But the fallout from the failed trip brings complications of a different kind. Namely: Matty, who has decided that leaving is not currently on his agenda and whom Aiden cannot seem to get rid of, no matter how pointedly he tries.
Calder insists they're just friends. Aiden's jealousy has opinions about that. Loud ones. The kind that has its own narrative arc and a deeply inconvenient tendency to surface at inopportune moments. Back home, Marcus has been quietly working his way through every alternative he can find, because if there's one thing Marcus does well, it's solving problems that weren't supposed to be solvable. Sin, predictably, has made himself at home in the middle of everything.
Eve is exactly as she always is, sharp-tongued, wolfish, and entirely too perceptive for anyone's comfort, dropping her particular brand of unsolicited wisdom into the situation whenever the mood strikes her. And underneath all of it, Aiden is standing at the edge of a decision he didn't ask to make. One path leads to the cure. Back to the life he had before a Halloween graveyard visit went spectacularly, irreversibly wrong.
No blood, no fangs, no body that can't figure out what it wants to be. Clean. Simple. His. The other path leads directly to a centuries-old vampire with chili pepper boxer briefs and a sex drawer and an inconveniently enormous heart, who followed him home and stood on his doorstep with flowers for two hours before knocking, and who calls him little bat in a voice that does things Aiden is still trying to figure out.
The cure and Calder are not going to coexist. That much is becoming clearer by the day. So, the question is simple, even if the answer isn't. What does Aiden actually want his forever to look like? And is he brave enough to choose it?
