Climbers, Shrubs and Trees of Uganda is a compendium of the climbers, , shrubs and trees occurring or at least once detected in Uganda, based on the presence of dried specimens in national and international herbaria.
The fieldwork for the preparation of this work was carried out from 2006 to 2017 in collaboration with colleagues from the Toro Botanical Gardens, Fort Portal. In principle all woody plant species, from climbers, scramblers, subshrubs, shrubs, small, medium and large trees found in Uganda are described in this book, i.e. more than 1, 000 species classified into 99 families. For identification purposes line drawings of vegetative characteristics, identification keys and vernacular names are provided.
The main objective of this work is to draw up an inventory of current knowledge on woody plants present in Uganda in order to arouse general interest in plants and botanical research in particular and above all to contribute to the conservation of this treasure for future generations.
